AMS grabs two wins in MB tournament

The Ansted Middle boys captured the boys middle school title in the annual Wildcat Invitational Tournament last weekend.

The Trailblazers cruised by the host Meadow Bridge Wildcats 49-34 in the championship Saturday. Meadow Bridge had advanced by defeating Marlinton on the opening day.

Following is a review of the two games involving AMS:

Ansted 49

Meadow Bridge 34

Carson Cochran’s 15 points paced a trio of Ansted double-digit scorers. Nathan Hanshew chipped in 14 and Noah Minor had 10.

Also for AMS, Curtis Gray scored seven and Hunter Harper three.

Thomas Ferris tallied 14 for Meadow Bridge. Other scorers were: Zach Yates, 7; William Woods, 3; Jared Gladwell, 6; Harley Martin, 2; and Seth Newman, 2.

Ansted plays at Collins on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Richwood  8

Noah Minor netted 16 points to guide the Trailblazers against Richwood.

Other AMS point-producers included: Carson Cochran, 1; Curtis Gray, 4; Nathan Hanshew, 6; and Colin Dempsey, 2.

Richwood scorers were: Will Bragg, 2; Justin Hamrick, 3; Joe Kidwell, 1; and Branden Snyder, 2.
