FHS girls, Valley boys post wins on diamond

In recent softball and baseball games:

Independence 10

Fayetteville 9

Independence’s Elizabeth Epling doubled home Jessie Lilly in the bottom of the eighth inning for the win on Wednesday.

Lillly and Jordan Hall each had three hits for the Patriots. Katie Lilly and Savannah McCormick both had two. Emily Ward struck out five batters.

Ashley Gilkerson and Erynn Kesler had two hits and two RBIs apiece for Fayetteville. Kayla Patrick also drove in a run.

Wyatt Adkins belted two home runs and had four RBIs to lead Class AA No. 2 Independence past host Fayetteville Wednesday.

Brian Sexton recorded a single, double and a triple to go along with three RBIs.

Will Dooley and James Criss (RBI) each had a double for the Pirates (6-3).

Meadow Bridge 2

Valley rolled out to an 8-0 lead after three innings and went on to defeat visiting Meadow Bridge 12-2 Wednesday in six innings.

Joe Eckert drove in four runs and John Riddle added a double and two RBIs to lead the Greyhounds (4-0).

Ethan Lopetrone hit a double and drove in two RBIs and Donte Wilkerson had a triple and two RBIs for Valley. Druw Bowen drove in a run.

Craig Peters had a double and Nate Davis drove in one run for Meadow Bridge.
