Soccer squads keep winning

The Oak Hill boys and Midland Trail girls remained unbeaten in local high school soccer play earlier this week. Following are results:

Oak Hill 5

Bluefield 1

Senior Jacob Kemlock scored two goals and had one assist, while junior John Hardman added two goals, to lead the Red Devils past the Bluefield Beavers 5-1 Tuesday.

The visiting Red Devils dominated the Beavers with 28 shots on goal to just two for the Beavers.

Ian Hunt chipped in a goal and an assist for Oak Hill, while Garrett Mullins and Blake Wingrove each had an assist.

The lone Bluefield goal came on a penalty kick.

Oak Hill (5-0) looks to stay unbeaten when it travels to Charleston Catholic Thursday.

Midland Trail 8

Sherman 0

Sophomore Abby Sevy had a hat trick in the first 15 minutes of the match as the visiting Midland Trail Lady Patriots rolled over Sherman 8-0 Tuesday.

Payton Fisher, Heaven Simms and Brittney Moore each added a goal and an assist in the Patriot win.

Individual goals were scored by Emily Carte and Summer Whipkey, while Mallory Stonestreet, Savannah Skaggs and Jessica Fox registered assists.

Goalkeepers Jill Gray, Ciara Reyna and Jessica Fox combined on the shutout win.

Midland Trail (3-0) travels to Oak Hill Thursday at 6 p.m.

Oak Hill 5

Greenbrier East 0

John Hardman scored two goals as Oak Hill defeated Greenbrier East Monday to remain unbeaten.

Jacob Kemlock, Garrett Mullins and Joel Bracken also scored for the Red Devils (4-0). Andrew Hardman, Trevor Skaggs and Kemlock were credited with assists.

Oak Hill keeper Brett Garris had three saves. Skaggs also helped preserve the shutout when he cleared out a ball that had gotten past Garris and was rolling toward the net for a sure goal.
