Midland girls trip up West; boys continue WVHIT play

— The Midland Trail Patriots jumped out to a 17-point halftime lead and went on to defeat the Greenbrier West girls 54-37 Tuesday.

Kennedy Cochran led Midland Trail with 21 points, while teammate Madison Syner chipped in 14 points.

Kristen Harris led the Cavaliers with 18 points.

Midland Trail (5-10) travels to Fayetteville Thursday.

Tyler Skaggs poured in 28 points and pulled down eight rebounds to power the Midland Trail boys past Man in the second round of the West Virginia Hometown Invitational Tournament Tuesday at Hico.

Jake Grimmett also had a big night with 22 points and eight rebounds for the Patriots. Rickie Carter scored 11 points and Steven Blume nine for Midland Trail.

John Keffer led Man with 21 points.

Midland Trail (5-8) traveled to Sherman Wednesday night for round three of the WVHIT. The Patriots visit Nicholas County tonight.

Kaleb Farr scored a game-high 20 points to lead Meadow Bridge past Hannan Tuesday.

Cody White chipped in 15 points and Ryan Church scored 11 for the Wildcats. Logan Pomeroy and Kyle Judy added eight points apiece.

Meadow Bridge (7-7) hosted Montcalm last night. The Wildcats play Paden City at 8 p.m. Friday in the Division 2 finals of the West Virginia Hometown Invitational Tournament at Summersville.
