Pirate girls remain unbeaten

Greenbrier West made a run at its first win, but Fayetteville remained undefeated behind a 22-point effort from Maddie Pritt in a 54-44 win over the Lady Cavaliers Thursday.

Jessica Brown added 17 points in the win, while Erica Hogan scored five.

Greenbrier West was led by 20 points from Rachel Redden and 15 from Kristen Harris.

Fayetteville (6-0) has a big matchup with undefeated Valley (5-0) at Smithers at 7 p.m. Monday.

The Lady Cavaliers will host Richwood on Tuesday.

Junior Hannah Brown scored 18 points to lead the Lady Lumberjacks past Midland Trail in overtime Thursday for their first win of the season.

Breanna Mazzella added 17 points for Richwood.

Marissa Workman scored 12 points and Kennedy Cochran chipped in 10 for the Patriots.

Other scorers were: Abby Sevy, 2; Emily Carte, 1; Hannah Legg, 4; Sara Parrish, 2; and Madison Syner, 8.
