Sports Briefs - Monday, August 13

— The ninth annual Harry White Memorial Horseshoe Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 18 at 13238 Deepwater Mountain Road.

Registration begins at noon.

The event is a double-elimination tournament with all proceeds donated to diabetes research. To date, organizers have raised $25,853 for research thanks to local businesses and those who take part each year.

The Glenville State College Pioneer baseball squad will present a Fall Ball Clinic on four Saturdays in September (1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd) with a rain date of Sept. 29. Clinics will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at the Sue Morris Sports Complex in Glenville.

The camp is open to campers ages 7 to 18, and fee is $200. Private lessons are available.

Camp will feature pitching, infield and outfield, hitting and base running.

Participants can learn tips on sliding, pitching, mechanics, work habits, pickoffs, rundowns, bunting and more.

Coaches at the college, high school, junior varsity, junior high and recreational league (adult or youth) levels are urged to submit game results and updated statistics to The Fayette Tribune. Baseball and softball all-star information can be supplied, as well.

When turning in scores or statistics, coaches/statisticians are reminded to provide at least last names of participants; information will not be accepted with only the first name.

Fall rosters and schedules should be submitted when available.
