Brown surpasses 1,000-point plateau

Fayetteville senior Jessica Brown scored her 1,000th career point as the Pirates disposed of host Montcalm on Tuesday.

Brown finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Erica Hogan also had 12 boards and Kaitlyn Sisler scored 10 points.

The Generals got 12 points from Leslie Kelley.

Fayetteville (4-0) visits Greenbrier West at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Meadow Bridge converted 19 of 22 shots at the foul line to earn the win over Midland Trail Tuesday.

Chandra Harrah was 8 of 9 at the free-throw line and scored 28 points, while Sarah Fleshman was 9 for 9 at the stripe and added 23 points.

Madison Syner scored 20 points for Trail. Kennedy Cochran had 10 rebounds.

The visiting Pirates led 25-18 at halftime and held on for a three-point win Friday.

Jessica Brown led Fayetteville (2-0) with 23 points. Erica Hogan added nine.

Kennedy Cochran scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Trail. Emily Carte scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds and three steals, while Hannah Legg scored 10 points and Marissa Workman had seven rebounds.

The Meadow Bridge Wildcats jumped out to a 34-9 first-half lead and rolled past Montcalm Friday in their season opener.

Cody White and Kaleb Farr each had a double-double for the Wildcats. White had 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Farr added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Tyler Honeycutt led Van with nine points.
