The Midland Trail Lady Patriot Softball Clinic will be held June 28 at the school in Hico.

It will be sponsored by the Summersville Strikers.

Grades 6-and-under will participate from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., while those in grades 7-and-over will work out from 3 to 9 p.m.

Participants will work on skills including pitching, catching, hitting, fielding, slapping, etc. Instruction will be by local coaches and former college players.

Registration fee is $25.

A free football camp for Fayetteville-area midget league and middle school players is being held this summer.

The camp will be staged from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday each week at Fletcher Arritt Memorial Stadium in Fayetteville. Remaining camp dates are June 23-26, July 7-10 and July 14-17.

Ages will be 3-5 (flag), 6-8 (junior varsity), 9-11 (varsity) and 12-14 (middle school).

Station drills will be held in the following: ropes, pass catching, pro drill, quarterback/center exchange, agility drill, punting, bag drill, long snap, ball exchange, leadership skills, proper tackling technique (no contact), proper footwork (step and follow through), snap count, proper stance, proper alignment, proper angles and backpedal.

The Fayette County Youth Soccer Association, along with Black Diamond FC, will host a summer soccer camp on July 7-10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily at the Oak Hill Soccer Complex next to Oak Hill High School.

The camp will be run by current college coaches and players from around the state with special appearances planned by professional international players. It is for children at all levels of play (from U6 to U18).

Camp cost is $140.

Coach Dave Barksdale and coach Dan Burd will conduct the Eye of the Tiger Basketball Camp this summer in the gymnasium at Memorial Baptist Church, 1405 S. Kanawha Street, Beckley.

There will be three camps: July 7-11 (Grades 3-5); July 14-18 (Grades 6-7. Girls entering eighth and ninth grades are also eligible for this camp); and July 21-25 (Grades 1-3).

All camps are for boys and girls and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., except the July 21-25 camp, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

WVU Tech baseball head coach Lawrence Nesselrodt has announced plans to hold a baseball camp for ages 9-15 on July 8-10 at Douglas M. Epling Stadium in East Bank.

Cost of the camp is $150 per camper (lunch is included).

The Glenville State College women’s basketball program will stage a kids day camp from July 8-11 at the Jesse R. Lilly Jr. Gymnasium.

The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Registration fee is $65, with registration the day of the event rising to $70.

Concord University softball head coach Alisa Tasler has announced plans for the program’s annual fast-pitch softball individual skills and drills development camp for girls ages 8-18 July 17-19 at the CU Softball Field on the campus of Concord University.

Campers can either commute daily for a fee of $150 or stay on campus in a residence hall for $200, which includes their room and all meals.
