CMS wrestlers take fourth in Coalfields

Collins Middle School continued its strong 2013-14 showing on the wrestling mats at the recent Coalfield Conference middle school championship at Shady Spring Middle School.

Collins placed fourth with 161 points. Champion Independence scored 231, Western Greenbrier was second with 193, and Eastern Greenbrier (172) was third. Summersville (115) rounded out the Top 5.

Fayetteville (27.5) was 10th, Collins B (14) was 14th, and Ansted (12) was 15th.

Tanner Harris and Connor Gibson had undefeated runs and claimed championships in their respective divisions to pace the Little Devils. Harris was 3-0 and won the 90-pound weight classification, while Gibson was 3-0 at 123.

Ashby West, 78, fourth, 2-2;

Austin Hamilton, 128, fourth, 2-2;

Ryan King, 171, second, 2-1;

Seth Martin, 110, fourth, 3-2;

Tathen Gray, 190, third, 3-1

Vincent Lopez (B), 190, fourth, 3-2;

Evan Shumaker, 116, third, 4-1; and

Chris Snuffer, 275, second, 2-1.

 

Fayetteville place winners were as follows:

Dustin Bailey, 135, second, 2-1;

 

Ansted place winners were:

Mason Kump, 155, fourth, 2-2.
