Oak Hill, Meadow Bridge and Valley post basketball wins in recent action

Class A No. 6 Valley fought through a cold shooting night to defeat county rival Meadow Bridge 51-44 Tuesday.

Druw Bowen led the balanced scoring for the Greyhounds with 17 points. Raeshawn Breckenridge added 16 points, and Zac Warden scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Logan Pomeroy led all scorers with 18 points for the Wildcats, and Kyle Judy chipped in 13 points.

Valley (14-1) plays Class A No. 11 Clay-Battelle in the Division 1 championship game of the West Virginia Hometown Invitational Tournament Saturday at the Summersville Arena and Conference Center at 7:30 p.m.

The two teams met in last year’s WVHIT consolation game, with Clay-Battelle coming out on top.

Meadow Bridge (8-6) faces Paden City at about 8 p.m. this Friday in the Division 2 championship game of the WVHIT in Summersville.

Oak Hill outscored Fayetteville 36-20 in the second half to break the game open and defeat the Pirates at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building.

Ian Hunt led the Red Devils with a game-high 18 points and Joe Curry added nine.

Ricky Meadows led Fayetteville with 12 and Will Fenton had eight.

Fayetteville (3-12) hosts Montcalm Thursday, while Oak Hill (8-6) hosted Princeton last night.
