WVU Tech men drop 8th straight

The WVU Tech men’s basketball team lost 88-83 to Bluefield (Va.) College Saturday at the South Charleston Community Center.

Junior Jauries Thomas led the way for Tech (8-9) with 20 points and eight rebounds.

Leon Cooper, Jr., Stephen Coles, Jaren Marino and Eddie Gordon also provided double-digit scoring for the Golden Bears.

Cooper chipped in 15 points and logged three rebounds and two assists.

Coles had 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals. Marino (seven boards) and Gordon each finished with 11 points.

Kearston Marion and Andrew Wilson led Bluefield (7-3) with 19 points apiece.

WVU Tech shot 44 percent (33-for-75) from the field, while Bluefield connected on 49.2 percent (30-of-61).

The Golden Bears forced 19 turnovers while committing 20.

Bluefield held a 40-39 edge on the glass.

The Golden Bears will play again at 7 p.m. on Jan. 10. Tech will face Lindenwood University-Bellville at the Baisi Athletic Center.
