FHS girls win section


FAYETTEVILLE — The Fayetteville Pirates rode the strong pitching of Kaitlyn Sisler to sweep both games from Richwood, 9-1 and 9-4, and capture the Class A Region 3, Section 2 softball title Thursday.

Sisler gave up just one hit and one run in the opener, and Ashley Gilkerson had two hits, including a triple and five RBIs, to lead the Pirates to the five-inning victory. Chelby Dorsey added two hits and Maddie Pritt added two RBIs.

In game two, Sisler had two hits and drove in two runs to help her cause and Alexa Roles had a double and an RBI. Gilkerson also added two hits, including a double, for Fayetteville.

Fayetteville advances to regional play Thursday against the homestanding Montcalm Generals.

The Pirates broke open a tie game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and went on to defeat Midland Trail in Class A Region 3, Section 2 play Wednesday.

Kaitlyn Sisler was the winning pitcher, giving up just one hit, and had three hits at the plate in the win.

Kelsey Norris and Allyson Kessler added two hits for Fayetteville.

Emily Holliday had four hits and two RBIs to lead Greenbrier West past Meadow Bridge in Class A Region 3, Section 1 action Wednesday.

Stephanie Lytle added three hits and Nicole Fleshman added two RBIs for the Cavaliers.

Kacie Forren led the Wildcats with four hits and an RBI, and Ally Redden had three hits.

Aaron Krise pitched a perfect game no-hitter on Monday evening in the first game of a doubleheader, leading the Pirate boys past Webster County 17-0. He struck out seven batters.

Krise went 2-for-4, while Jake Holland and Trey Phares were each 2-for-3.

In the second game, Jake Holland gave up two runs on four hits as Fayetteville beat Webster County 13-2.

Phares went 3-for-3 with a double.
