— The Collins Middle School boys marked the return of leading scorer Michael Martin Monday by racing away from the Fayetteville Pirates in the fourth quarter for a 41-25 victory.

“We played really well,” said Collins coach Andy Kees, whose team improved to 2-6.

The Little Devils ratcheted up their defensive effort in the fourth period, outscoring the Pirates 18-3 and breaking open a close game. “We really pressured the ball,” Kees said.

Martin tallied 21 points in his return from injury. Also for the Little Devils, Tyrese Selinger and William Gibson tossed in eight points each, and Noah Pyatt added four.

Will Fenton led Fayetteville with 15 points. Other scorers were: Micah Bates, 4; Ricky Meadows, 3; and Marcus Lively, 3.

Collins visits Eastern Greenbrier Thursday.

Tracy Conliffe collected 14 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and eight steals to lead Valley over the Trailblazers last Monday.

Devin Williams added eight points, five rebounds and five steals, and Jaylun Craig contributed six points and seven steals.

Other scorers were: Nathan Kincaid, 6; Dondre Davis, 4; Spencer Dean, 4; Ryan Copeland, 2; Garyn Pritt, 2; Corey Cupples, 2; Britt Armentrout, 2; and Jimmy Harper, 2.

Noah Minor scored six to lead Ansted. Other scorers were: Dillon Harper, 3; James Carte, 2; and Nathan Hanshew, 2.
