Oak Hill’s Smith honored

— The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission has announced that the National Federation High School Coaches Association 2012 Coach of the Year award in girls track and field will be awarded to Oak Hill High School coach George Smith.

Each year, coaches are honored for their outstanding commitment to the athletes of West Virginia.

Smith has “demonstrated excellence and leadership in the coaching profession,” the WVSSAC said. “We appreciate (his) dedication to the sport of girls track and field and (his) commitment to the development of young people throughout the state of West Virginia.”

Smith will be recognized at the upcoming state track and field meet in Charleston.
