Oak Hill, Fayetteville girls are victorious

Oak Hill 52
Independence 44
Freshman Dannielle Matheny registered 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Oak Hill girls at home Tuesday.
Quartney Settle added 14 points and 11 boards for the Red Devils (2-2), who visit Midland Trail Dec. 30.
Kayla Saunders and Kayla Pysz scored 15 each for Independence.
Matheny netted a two-pointer that put Oak Hill ahead 40-30 early in the final period, then Settle and Matheny both scored deuces, the latter with 2:22 to play, to make the margin 46-37.
The Patriots battled back, though, and Saunders converted a steal into two points to trim the deficit to four, 48-44, with 2:40 remaining.
Oak Hill held the visitors off as Cassie Molchanoff and Kristen White both sank a pair of free throws in the final 30 seconds.

Richwood 19
Cayla Rhodes scored 21 points, grabbed 24 rebounds and blocked five shots to highlight Fayetteville’s effort Tuesday.
Stephanie Nickell added 23 points, five assists and seven steals for the Pirates (5-2), who host Valley Jan. 7.

Emily Blevins’ 30 points led Class AA No. 1 Summers County over host Midland Trail.
Trail got 13 from Allison Syner and 10 from Jessie Vest.
The Patriots (1-5) host Oak Hill Dec. 30.

Cameron Mann scored 21 points and Ryne Nahodil added 17 as the Bobcats slipped by Mount Hope.
