“Dig” yourself out of a rut and “spike” the summer doldrums with Mountain State University’s 2012 volleyball camps.
Camp director Holly Mauldin has scheduled camps for 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. July 16-20 for ages 8 to 12; and 9 a.m. to noon July 23-27 for ages 13 to 17. The cost is $100 per camper, and enrollment is limited to 40 campers per session.
The camps will take place in the J.R. Van Meter Gymnasium on MSU’s Beckley campus.
Campers will participate in a variety of activities to develop and improve their volleyball skills. Techniques for conditioning, passing, setting, attacking, blocking and serving will be presented and practiced.
Competition offered at various levels will give campers a chance to practice their skills in game situations. Campers should wear appropriate volleyball apparel, and should bring a water bottle and knee pads each day. All participants receive a camp T-shirt and awards will be presented on the last day of camp.
Mauldin is heading into her fourth season as Mountain State’s head volleyball coach. A native of Columbia, S.C., she is a 2009 honors graduate of the University of South Carolina-Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C., earning a bachelor of science degree in physical education: fitness and recreation.
