OAK HILL —
Some Oak Hill- and Fayetteville-area schools and their communities at large will hear a positive message from youth motivational speaker Joel Penton this week.
In a program sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Penton, one of the nation’s leading youth motivational speakers, will appear at Oak Hill High School at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, along with a concert by Ryan Holliday.
On Thursday, Feb. 28, Penton will stage school assemblies at Fayetteville High and Collins Middle during the day, followed by a 7 p.m. event at Fayetteville High School.
Admission to the public events is free.
Penton, a defensive tackle, was part of a national championship team and three Big Ten championship squads at Ohio State University, as well as being a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and receiver of the Humanitarian Heisman Trophy.
“His relevant approach to teen issues focuses on the positive results of good decisions instead of the negative consequences of poor choices,” reads his publicity material. “Joel proves through his own personal stories of triumph that ordinary people can accomplish great things by simply making the right choices.”
“His message is basically about making good choices and not giving up on life,” said Mike White, South/Central West Virginia FCA area director.
