Concord University softball coach Alisa Tasler has announced plans to hold an individual skills camp for girls ages 8-18 July 15-17 at the Concord softball field. The camp is open to beginners and advanced players.
Players new to fast-pitch softball will be instructed on the fundamental aspects by learning the basic and proper techniques to help establish a solid foundation for both offense and defense. Pitching and catching skill development will also be taught.
Veteran softball players will have the chance to take their game to the next level by learning the dimensions of softball beyond the basics. This section is for skilled athletes who are proficient at the basic fundamental skills of softball. During this time, athletes will be challenged through a series of skill-specific drills. Advanced pitching and catching instruction will be included in this session.
Attendees will have the opportunity to either commute to the camp daily or stay in the Concord dorms.
Residential campers will pay $200, which covers all meals and a room for the duration. A camper planning to stay overnight should bring casual summer clothes, swim wear, complete practice outfits, socks, tennis shoes, glove, cleats, helmet and bat if available, as well as towels, toiletries, pillow, linens for a twin bed, a blanket, and spending money. Catchers will need to bring their own catching gear.
The cost for those wishing to commute daily is $150. The Concord University cafeteria will be available for meals to all commuters. Meal prices will be made available on the first day of camp. A two-meal-a-day ticket for the week may be purchased for an additional $30.
Campers should plan to arrive on the first day of camp at 1 p.m. Registration will take place in the lobby of the Carter Center between 1 and 2 p.m. The first session will begin at 2:30 p.m. Camp will conclude at 3 p.m. on July 17.
