The Valley Rocket Golf Tournament is slated for Friday, July 19 at Bridge Haven Golf Course near Fayetteville.

A field of 32 teams will participate in a four-man scramble.

Cost will be $200 per four-person team. Mulligans will cost $5.

Tournament organizers are also looking for tee box sponsors. Dezine Line has offered to make the advertising signs for free.

Businesses or individuals who wish to pay $100 to be one of the tee box sponsors is asked to contact April Weese.

Also, local businesses that would like to donate an advertisement on shirts, cups, coozies, gift cards, etc. as gifts should contact Weese.

Lunch will be served between the two rounds.

Concord University men’s basketball head coach Kent McBride has announced plans to hold an instructional basketball camp for boys ages 8-18 July 17-20 at the Carter Center.

The camp will feature thorough instruction on the fundamentals of basketball as well as team play (up to eight players on a team) according to age and individual experience level.

Attendees will have the option to stay in the Concord University dorms or commute to and from the camp each day.

Cost of the camp is $220 for resident campers, which covers camp fees, all meals and the cost of their room. A camper planning to stay overnight should bring casual summer clothes, swim wear, complete practice outfits, socks, tennis shoes, towels, toiletries, pillow, linens for a twin bed, a blanket and spending money.

Those wishing to commute will pay $180. The price includes camp costs as well as meal tickets for lunch and dinner.

Campers should plan to arrive on the first day of camp at noon. Registration will take place in the lobby of the Carter Center between 12 and 1 p.m. The first session will begin at 2 p.m.

All checks are asked to be made out to the Concord University Foundation, Inc. with Men's Basketball in the memo line.
