Collins Middle School soccer tryouts will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6 behind Collins Middle in Oak Hill.
Prospective players must be academically eligible students enrolled in the 6th, 7th or 8th grades at CMS for the upcoming fall term.
They need to bring their completed physical form (completed after June 1), shin guards, soccer cleats and plenty to drink.
They should also bring their own ball.

Collins Middle School will conduct a cheerleading clinic on Monday, Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon in the CMS gym.

The John A. Flournoy Youth Basketball League will stage a golf tournament fundraiser on Aug. 11 at Bridge Haven Golf Club near Fayetteville.
The tournament, a four-man scramble beginning at 8:30 a.m., is now accepting entrants and hole sponsors.
Entry fee is $200 per team. Lunch will be provided. Participants can win a new car by hitting a hole-in-one. There will be numerous other prizes.

The league serves mainly the communities in the Midland Trail High School geographical region. The league conducts a recreational season, sponsors AAU teams, conducts clinics and summer camps, and sponsors a high school summer league. This year the league intends to provide financial support for the boys and girls basketball programs at Midland Trail.

The Glenville State College Pioneer baseball squad will present a Fall Ball Clinic on four Saturdays in September (1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd) with a rain date of Sept. 29. Clinics will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at the Sue Morris Sports Complex in Glenville.
The camp is open to campers ages 7 to 18, and fee is $200. Private lessons are available.
Camp will feature pitching, infield and outfield, hitting and base running.
Participants can learn tips on sliding, pitching, mechanics, work habits, pickoffs, rundowns, bunting and more.

When turning in scores or statistics, coaches/statisticians are reminded to provide at least last names of participants; information will not be accepted with only the first name.
Fall rosters and schedules should be submitted when available.
