Fayette middle school event this week


— The annual Fayette County Middle School Basketball Tournament will be staged Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week at the Fayette County Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building in Fayetteville.

All five county public middle schools (Ansted, Collins, Fayetteville, Meadow Bridge and Valley) will be joined by Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School to comprise the field.

Top seeds will be Collins in the boys division and Fayetteville in the girls division.

Admission is $5.

Pairings are as follows:



Wednesday, Feb. 13

— 4 p.m. — No. 4 Collins girls vs. No. 5 Valley

— 5:30 p.m. — No. 4 Ansted boys vs. No. 5 Meadow Bridge

— 7 p.m. — No. 3 Meadow Bridge girls vs. No. 6 Saints Peter & Paul

— 8:30 p.m. — No. 3 Fayetteville boys vs. No. 6 Saints Peter & Paul



Thursday, Feb. 14

— 4 p.m. — No. 2 Ansted girls vs. Meadow Bridge-Saints Peter & Paul winner

— 5:30 p.m. — No. 2 Valley boys vs. Fayetteville-Saints Peter & Paul winner

— 7 p.m. — No. 1 Fayetteville girls vs. Collins-Valley winner

— 8:30 p.m. — No. 1 Collins boys vs. Ansted-Meadow Bridge winner



Friday, Feb. 15

— 4 p.m. — Girls consolation

— 5:30 p.m. — Boys consolation

— 7 p.m. — Girls championship

— 8 p.m. — Boys championship.
