Sports briefs — Monday, April 29, 2013

The Oak Hill Rotary Club will hold its annual golf tournament June 8 at the White Oak Country Club.

The tournament is a fundraiser the club has every year to raise money to help with local and worldwide needs. Local projects include supporting the Red Cross, the Fayette County Toy Fund Christmas party, a dictionary project which gives every third grader in the Fayette County School system a dictionary each year, scholarship programs, and many local non-profit projects in the area.

Worldwide projects include the eradication of polio, South Sudan SA Clean Water Project for the elimination of the Guinea Worm, and a kidney dialysis machine project in Nepal. The list of good things Rotary International is involved with is tremendous, and all is done through fundraisers like this and donations.

To sign up for the  tournament, call Mike Henning at 304-685-1926.

Teams and hole sponsors are still needed.
