Fundraisers planned in upcoming weeks

— The John A. Flournoy Youth Basketball League will stage a benefit basketball tournament May 17-19 at Midland Trail High School.

All proceeds from this tournament will be donated to Pat Sedlock of Hico to assist her family with medical and other expenses related to her cancer treatments.  

The event will be for boys in grades 3-12. There will be a third grade division, a fourth grade division, a fifth grade division, two middle school divisions, a jayvee division and a varsity division.

Each team will have three-plus games.

Each game will feature 16-minute halves with a running clock that will stop only in the final two minutes of each half.

Cost is $150 per team.

The Valley Rocket Golf Tournament is slated for Friday, July 19 at Bridge Haven Golf Course near Fayetteville.

A field of 32 teams will participate in a four-man scramble.

Cost will be $200 per four-person team. Mulligans will cost $5.

Tournament organizers are also looking for tee box sponsors. Dezine Line has offered to make the advertising signs for free.

Businesses or individuals who wish to pay $100 to be one of the tee box sponsors are asked to contact April Weese.

Also, local businesses that would like to donate an advertisement on shirts, cups, coozies, gift cards, etc. as gifts should contact Weese.

Lunch will be served between the two rounds.
