— The Oak Hill Rotary Club will hold its annual golf tournament at the White Oak Country Club on June 8.

The tournament is a fundraiser the club has every year to raise money to help with local and worldwide needs. Local projects include supporting the Red Cross, the Fayette County Toy Fund Christmas party, a dictionary project which gives every third grader in the Fayette County School system a dictionary each year, scholarship programs, and many local non-profit projects in the area.

To sign up for the golf tournament, call Mike Henning at 304-685-1926.

Teams and hole sponsors are still needed.

The third annual Elsie Pruett Scholarship Golf Tournament and Auction will be held June 6 and 7 at White Oak Country Club.

Elsie Pruett is the wife of former Marshall University head coach Bob Pruett, a Beckley native.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Elsie Pruett Endowment Scholarship fund, providing scholarship for numerous MU student athletes. This event has raised over $50,000 in the past two years.

This year’s event is scheduled to be hosted by Coach Pruett and former NFL quarterback Chad Pennington. Other former Thundering Herd players, as well as current and former NFL players, will be announced.

The event kicks off with dinner on Thursday night. The cost is $50 per person.

There will be a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m., with dinner starting at 7 p.m. Photos and autographs will also be available. Dinner will be followed by drawings for door prizes and a live memorabilia auction. Other items include autographed player jerseys, footballs and memorabilia item signed by current and former players.

Tee times for the scramble-style tournament on Friday are 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Cost is $500 per foursome, which includes lunch, refreshments and hole sponsor. Foursomes that register can play three holes with one of the players for an additional $100 per team. Photos and autographs will also be available for $5 per person.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three foursomes in both the morning and afternoon tee times, and multiple chances to win are available on course completions and raffle prizes.

A limited number of tee times and/or dinner seats are available. To make reservations, call 304-763-1487.

For the fourth summer in a row, C. Adam Toney’s Discount Tires is sponsoring the annual Terri’s Tribute Golf Tournament at Bridge Haven Golf Course in Fayetteville.

The four-person scramble is set for an 8 a.m. shotgun start with registration at 7 a.m. Popular because of the cause, the course, door prizes and lunch, organizers say an afternoon scramble may be added if the morning sells out.

This year’s event will be staged on June 1.

“Golfers pay $50 per person and receive a golf towel, a Chick-Fil-A coupon, a light breakfast, 18 holes of golf, door prizes and a lunch by Pasquale’s, plus their support of a good cause,” said organizer Anthony Treadway.

Hole sponsors are available for $100. There will be a closest-to-pin cash prize and hole-in-one prize of $10,000.

Terri’s Tribute, organized as a memorial to Terri Treadway Massey who lost a four-year battle in 2009, uses the golf tournament as its major fundraiser.

Information about the golf tournament and Terri’s Tribute is available by calling Treadway at 304-640-6996 or emailing
