Several fundraisers set in coming weeks

— The John A. Flournoy Youth Basketball League will stage a benefit basketball tournament May 17-19 at Midland Trail High School.

All proceeds from this tournament will be donated to Pat Sedlock of Hico to assist her family with medical and other expenses related to her cancer treatments.  

The event will be for boys in grades 3-12. There will be a third grade division, a fourth grade division, a fifth grade division, two middle school divisions, a jayvee division and a varsity division.

Cost is $150 per team.

The Oak Hill Rotary Club will hold its annual golf tournament at the White Oak Country Club on June 8.

The tournament is a fundraiser the club has every year to raise money to help with local and worldwide needs. Local projects include supporting the Red Cross, the Fayette County Toy Fund Christmas party, a dictionary project which gives every third grader in the Fayette County School system a dictionary each year, scholarship programs, and many local non-profit projects in the area.

The Valley Rocket Golf Tournament is slated for Friday, July 19 at Bridge Haven Golf Course near Fayetteville.

A field of 32 teams will participate in a four-man scramble.

Cost will be $200 per four-person team. Mulligans will cost $5.
