OAK HILL —
Blake Wingrove and Andrew Hardman each netted a pair of goals Wednesday to propel the Collins Middle School soccer squad to a 7-0 shutout of visiting Shady Spring.
Julia Ivey, Trevor Jones and Lilly Hines chipped in a goal apiece for the CMS attack.
Jones and Kevin Stanley recorded two assists each, and Wingrove and Ethan Alderman had one assist each.
Ivey had three saves and Jared Richards one.
The junior varsity defeated Shady Spring 1-0 in game shortened to one half by darkness.
Tanner Harris scored the Collins goal, which was assisted by Dylan Massey.
Mason Richardson had one save for CMS (6-0).
The Little Devils (6-0-1) have a road game at Eastern Greenbrier on Monday, Oct. 8.
“We have had a very successful season so far,” said Collins coach Jeff Jones. “But, (we) have a few big tests ahead, with Eastern Greenbrier, Park and Shady on the road and Ansted and Bluefield at home.
“Hopefully we can carry our early season success forward and finish strong down the stretch.”
