Wildcats end stellar year with 7-1 mark

From Staff Reports

— The Meadow Bridge Wildcats recently concluded a solid middle school football season by defeating Ansted 36-32 in the season-ending championship playoff.

Standout running back Thomas Ferris scored on a 25-yard run with about 1:30 remaining to lift the Wildcats (7-1) into the lead en route to securing the victory.

The Trailblazers, who took an early 12-0 lead, were driving in an attempt to regain the lead but Meadow Bridge’s Harley Martin made a key sack to snuff out the final drive, said MB coach Brandon Wickline.

His players “kept working hard and pulled it out,” said Wickline.

The coach expressed pride in his players.

“They set a goal that they wanted to do it,” he said. “They just didn’t say it; they kept working towards it.”
