Team Kenneth softball event set this weekend

OAK HILL — The second annual Team Kenneth Co-Ed Softball Tournament will be staged this Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9 at Collins Park.

A full field of 14 teams is entered to play in the double-elimination event, which begins at 8 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.

Team Kenneth was founded in memory of Kenneth G. Wesley Bickford, who passed away on Oct. 17, 2010 after a battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). The disease left the youngster with a cancerous tumor that grew inside of his brain stem.

Team Kenneth fights to bring awareness to and raise funds for DIPG, for which there is no cure.

Search Team Kenneth on Facebook.

Call Traci Bickford at 304-575-7004 or Janie Bowling at 304-890-5530 for more information, to make a donation or to perhaps volunteer a couple hours of your time to umpire or help in other ways.

The public is invited to attend this weekend’s tournament, catch a little softball action and bring awareness to DIPG.
