Local high school football squads will play games with playoff implications this Friday.
In Class AAA, No. 10 Oak Hill (5-2) seeks to rebound from a loss to Lewis County, but it won’t be an easy task. The Red Devils travel to face Class AA No. 5 Bluefield (6-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Class A games include No. 9 Valley (6-1) hosting No. 23 Richwood (3-4), No. 12 Meadow Bridge (6-2) traveling to Class AA No. 28 Mount View (3-4), co-No. 18 Midland Trail (4-3) entertaining No. 35 Hannan (1-6), and Fayetteville (0-7) visiting No. 4 Buffalo (6-1).
At Midland Trail’s game with Hannan, the Patriot contingent will wear pink for the second straight year in honor of the breast cancer awareness movement.
“We support it 100 percent,” said Midland Trail coach Joe Dean. “The kids look forward to it.”
As to the game itself, Dean said Tuesday he told his players they need to be prepared.
“We don’t know a whole lot about Hannan. We have to get better. You don’t look past your next game. We told the kids today, ‘You better be ready.’ ”
