OAK HILL —
Unbeaten Oak Hill put six players into the scoring column in winning its Class AAA Region 3, Section 2 soccer semifinal Tuesday at the YMCA’s Carter Family Foundation Stadium.
Oak Hill whipped Greenbrier East 11-0.
“This was some of the best I’ve seen us move the ball all season,” coach Kyle Kent said. “You’d see five or six passes strung together, and the ball would find a player who had a wide-open shot on goal.”
All-Stater Jacob Kemlock keyed the attack with four goals and an assist. He now has 30 goals for the season.
“All four of Jacob’s goals were in the first half. It seemed like he couldn’t miss.”
Garrett Mullins had a hat trick (3 goals) giving him 12 overall. Ian Hunt, Jon Hardman, Cameron Heath and Blake Wingrove also scored.
It was the first career goal for Heath, who was playing his first game since breaking his wrist five weeks ago.
Hardman had two assists to go along with his goal.
“Jon controlled the middle of field beautifully today,” Kent said. “He was the first or second player involved in passing. He created a lot for us.”
Cody Walker, Trevor Skaggs, Ian Hunt and Christian Heath also had assists for Oak Hill (17-0-2), which plays Woodrow Wilson in the sectional final at 6 p.m. Thursday at Paul Cline Stadium.
