MB Wildcats enjoy solid track season

— It’s been a solid season for Steve Taylor and his Meadow Bridge Middle School track and field team.

“The girls and boys have placed high in all of the meets this year,” Taylor said recently.

The girls squad has been led by Sheyla Harless, Kaylie Persinger, Shauna Harless, Makayla Church and Brooke Critchley. Sheyla Harless has paced the successful 4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relay units all season long. Persinger has led Meadow Bridge in the 1600 and 3200, and she placed third in the 800 at last week’s meet at Western Greenbrier. Church and Shauna Harless have contributed in the 100 and the 400. Critchley finished third in the shot put at the WG meet.

Dustin Clere and Thomas Ferris have led the charge for the boys all year, Taylor said. Clere has enjoyed high finishes in the 75 hurdles, 400, 4x100 and long jump, while Ferris has performed well in the 100, 200, 4x100 and long jump.

The boys have also done well in the 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800, in addition to the shuttle hurdles.
