Thurmond Triathlon conducted

The third Thurmond Triathlon was held on Sunday, Aug. 4.

Designed for beginners, the event brought out families, as well as athletes who wanted to participate in a beginner triathlon.

The first person to cross the finish line was Ohio’s Jacob Copen in 45:17.62.

“The Town of Thurmond was really pleased with the event and a big thanks goes out to all our volunteers and sponsors that helped put on an event that helped families and individuals alike make some great memories,” said councilman Chad McCune, who was also the race director.

Among those sponsors were Hometown Subaru, ACE Adventure Resort, Copen Machine, Gaddy Engineering and Active Fitness.

Photos from the event can be found on the Thurmond WV Facebook page.

Next year’s event is slated for Aug. 3.
