Pirate boys win sixth straight

Fayetteville broke open a tie game with two runs in the top half of the sixth inning to defeat the Bobcats 8-6 Thursday.

Dylan Doyle pitched a scoreless sixth inning for the win, and Will Fenton slammed the door shut in the seventh for the save.

Will Dooley led the Pirate hitters with a double and four RBIs, while Troy Farrell collected three hits and an RBI.

Emily Day struck out 14 batters to lead the Warriors past the Pirate girls last Thursday.

Kaitlyn Sisler recorded nine strikeouts and had two hits, including a double, for Fayetteville.

Fayetteville went on to defeat Richwood 14-6 on Tuesday to raise its record to 1-4.

The Pirates visit Richwood at 5:30 p.m. today and play at Midland Trail at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. They travel to Nicholas County on Monday.

Cassadee Blankenship surrendered just two hits to lead Westside past visiting Oak Hill Thursday.

Aly Fleenor had two hits for the Renegades.

Hanna Powers had a triple and Ciera Workman had a single for the Red Devils.

On the heels of a 14-6 conquest of Mount View last week, Oak Hill defeated Valley 2-1 on Monday and topped PikeView 7-4 on Tuesday to hike its record to 3-2.

The Red Devils visit Shady Spring at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and play at Liberty at noon on Saturday. They entertain James Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
