Local girls teams post wins

In recent high school basketball games:

Oak Hill 39

Greenbrier West 32

The Oak Hill girls outscored Greenbrier West 24-15 in the second half and captured a 39-32 verdict over the visiting Cavaliers for their first win of the season.

Kaitlyn Goodman led the Lady Red Devils with 13 points and Caelea Teel added eight points.

Greenbrier West’s Kristen Harris led all scorers with 14 points,

Oak Hill (1-1), which had lost to Woodrow Wilson 67-33 the previous evening, played at Valley Friday.

Independence 32

Senior Avina Sedlock scored 15 points to lead Fayetteville past Independence 65-32 Thursday in the season opener for both teams.

Maddie Pritt added 11 points for the Pirates, and Hannah Samples chipped in eight.

Brittany Wrenn led the Patriots with 12 points.

Meadow Bridge 45

Liberty 40

Meadow Bridge used a strong night from the charity stripe, hitting 14 of 18 attempts, to get by Liberty 45-40 in the season opener for the Wildcats.

Seniors Caitlin White and Felicia Pomeroy led the way for Meadow Bridge. White finished with 15 points and Pomeroy had 12.

Sheyla Harless and Ally Redden added six points apiece for the Wildcats.

Stacey Williams scored 10 points for Liberty, while Shayla Stephens and Savannah Daniels added eight points apiece.

Meadow Bridge (1-0) hosts Midland Trail Tuesday.
