— Coaches at the college, high school, junior varsity, junior high and recreational league (adult or youth) levels are urged to submit game results and updated statistics to The Fayette Tribune and The Montgomery Herald.

When turning in scores or statistics, coaches/statisticians are reminded to provide at least last names of participants; information will not be accepted with only the first name.

When they’re available, fall rosters and schedules should also be submitted.

The 2013 New River Gorgeous Trail Run will be staged this Saturday, Aug. 24 at ACE Adventure Resort.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place winners for men and women in the long and short courses. The shorter, 9.5-mile course navigates the highlands above ACE Lake, and the longer, 14.2-mile course circles much of the resort's 1,500-acre property.

A 5-mile walking course, which shadows much of the short course, is open for noncompetitive participation, though walkers will also be included in the event raffle. The first 150 registrants will receive a commemorative mug, and more than $2,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded.

Race registration will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Aug. 24 at the resort where the start and finish lines are located. The races begin at 10 a.m. Registration fees are $30 for the long course, $20 for the short course, and $15 for the walk. An additional $5 will be added for participants who register on the morning of the event.

The Mountain of Hope Organization (a non-profit corporation) will sponsor the second annual Tom Stafford Memorial Golf Tournament to raise funds for college scholarships for the youth of southern West Virginia.

This year’s tournament will be held at Glade Springs on the Cobb Course on Friday, Aug. 23, beginning at 11:30 a.m. It will be a “Captains Choice” format, with all proceeds going to the MOHO Scholarship Fund.

Entry fee is $75 per player.

The 15th annual Greenbrier Valley Toughman event will be held on Nov. 1 and 2 at the State Fair Grounds, inside the WV Building.

Fighter’s registrations are now being accepted for the single-elimination boxing tournament that is open to area men and women, ages 18 to 35, with no pro fights and limited amateur experience.

Up to $12,000 in prize monies will be awarded. The champion in each weight division will receive up to $1,000 and the runners-up will each receive up to $300, depending upon the number of fighters in each weight class.

Miss Ring Girl will receive $1,000, while second-, third- and fourth-place ring girls will receive $200 each, plus various prizes.
