The WVU Tech wrestling roster grew by three last week.
Coach Jake Brumbelow signed Mikey Prince, Alex Buckley and Michael Cotterall to hit the mats for the Golden Bears next winter.
Prince, from Independence, is coming off a strong high school wrestling career that saw him place three times at the state tournament and compile a136-26 career record. Brumbelow projects Prince to wrestle in the 125-pound to 133-pound weight class.
Riverside’s Alex Buckley will be joining Prince in Montgomery next year. Buckley was a two-time state place winner and a West Virginia state runner-up in 2008 before wrestling his way to a 45-10 record in his senior season. He is expected to compete in the 149-157 class.
Rounding out the trio is Logan’s Michael Cotterall, who compiled a 27-3 record en route to earning his first West Virginia state heavyweight championship in 2010.
“Michael is a smart wrestler who will find a way to win,” said Brumbelow. “He had a dominating state tournament where he pinned all of his opponents in his AAA title run. I’m looking forward to getting all these guys on campus and getting to work.”
