In recent high school basketball games:



Valley 50, Oak Hill 34



Bre’onna Newkirk turned in a solid all-around performance for Valley as it won at home Thursday. Newkirk collected 14 points, nine rebounds and five blocks.

Also for Valley (8-4), Alexis Payne added 13 points and Bobbi Dyer contributed 10.

Kristen White scored 10 points to lead Oak Hill. Neaire Miller chipped in nine.

The Greyhounds led just 21-17 at halftime before putting some distance between themselves and the Red Devils in the final two quarters.



Fayetteville 50, Mount Hope 41



Jessica Brown scored 13 points and had eight steals to power host Fayetteville Thursday.

Teammate Beth Murphy had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Precious Gray scored 14 points for Mount Hope. Brandie Gore supplied 11 and Talisa Smith nine.

Fayetteville (8-6) will visit Oak Hill at 5:45 p.m. today.



Oak Hill 64, Bluefield 61



The Red Devils boys improved to 11-1 with the three-point win Wednesday.

Kalif Wright and Jack Flournoy each tallied 26 points for Oak Hill. Other scorers were: DeAndré Leonard, 8; Thomas Booth, 1; and Kyle Colon, 3.

Craig Ponder’s 20 led the Beavers.



Meadow Bridge 54, Summers County 47



The Wildcats got out of the gates fast Tuesday, posting a 12-2 first-quarter advantage en route to the victory.

For Meadow Bridge (9-4), Tyler Bennett scored 20 points, and teammates Chris Gray and Tyler Vandall added 12 and 11 markers, respectively. Also providing offense were: Brandon Adkins, 4; Cody White, 4; and Zack Wingerd, 3.

John Luc McCrae’s 14 led Summers.



Oak Hill 45, Liberty 37



The Oak Hill girls hiked their record to 4-10 Tuesday by turning back the Raiders.

Neaire Miller’s 11-point effort paced a balanced Oak Hill scoring attack. Others in the scoring column were: Cassie Molchanoff, 2; Heather Stevens, 4; Cheyenne Selbe, 3; Kristen White, 8; Savannah Robertson, 4; Shakiyla Cosby, 3; Hailey Horn, 3; and Quartney Settle, 7.

Maygan Mullohan scored 19 for Liberty.



Shady Spring 67, Fayetteville 43



Fayetteville dipped to 7-5 with the loss to the Tigers.

Nich Carte scored 15 and Corey Goodman 11 for Fayetteville. Other scorers were: MichaelAngelo Hernandez, 4; Dylan Young, 9; Chris Hill, 2; and Charles Briscoe, 2.

Kevin Goodson had 18 for Shady.
