The Patriots outscored Fayetteville 50-31 in the second and third quarters and rolled past the Pirates Monday in the opening round of Class A Region 3, Section 2 play at Hico.
Rickie Carter scorched the nets for 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Midland Trail. Tristan Minor added 14 points, Tyler Skaggs had 11 points and Jake Grimmett had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Zach Semple, Tyler McVey and L.J. White paced the Pirates with 14 points apiece.
Midland Trail (9-14) traveled to Charmco Wednesday to play Greenbrier West in semifinal action.

Junior Logan Pomeroy poured in a game-high 22 points to lead the Meadow Bridge Wildcats past Richwood in a Class A Region 3, Section 2 game at Richwood.
Also for Meadow Bridge (11-10), Kaleb Farr added 14 points, while Cole Porter and Marvin Bragg had seven points apiece.
John Bard led the Lumberjacks with 18 and Zach Bennett had 12 points.
The Wildcats played Class A No. 10 Valley in the semifinals Wednesday at Smithers.
