Football camp set in Fayetteville; variety of other camps scheduled

A free football camp for Fayetteville-area midget league, middle school and high school players will be held weekly beginning June 11, according to FHS head coach Frank Spangler.

The camp will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday each week for eight weeks at Fletcher Arritt Memorial Stadium in Fayetteville.

Local players and coaches, in addition to several former standouts from the region, will be on hand.

WVU Tech baseball head coach Lawrence Nesselrodt has announced plans to hold a baseball camp for ages 9-15 on July 8-10 at Douglas M. Epling Stadium in East Bank.

The camp will feature instruction on the fundamentals of baseball from Nesselrodt, Tech baseball players and local coaches.

Cost of the camp is $150 per camper (lunch is included).

The 2014 Little Stars Basketball Camp at WVU Tech, a camp, for boys and girls ages 6-15, will be held from June 23-27 at the Baisi Athletic Center in Montgomery.

The camp will feature thorough instruction on the fundamentals of basketball as well as team play (3-on-3 and 5-on-5) according to age and individual experience level.

Attendees will receive a camp ball, trophy, T-shirt, photo and evaluation. Campers will also have the opportunity to participate in competitions such as foul shooting and a 3-point contest for prizes.

Cost of the camp is $120 per camper (lunch not included). Lunch is $3 per day or campers can bring their own lunch. If buying, pizza, hot dogs or McDonald’s will be served.

Campers should plan to arrive at 9 a.m. Monday through Thursday, with camp ending daily at 3 p.m. On Friday, the schedule will be 9 a.m. to noon, with the awards ceremony beginning at 11:45 a.m. If needed, early drop-off of 8 a.m. and late pick-up of 4 p.m. will be available.
