Once again this year, the Southern Appalachian Labor School (SALS) plans to bring hundreds of teenagers and adults to Oak Hill, Montgomery and surrounding areas to improve the homes of elderly, handicapped and lower-income residents through home repairs.
At each workcamp, teenagers and adults, all members of faith-based youth groups, volunteer a week of their time to repair homes throughout the community.
Repairs offered through the workcamp include interior and exterior painting, weatherization, porch and wheelchair ramp construction and other work. Residents interested in applying to receive assistance may contact SALS at 304-779-2280 or 304-779-2772.
To assist with the repairs, SALS is also seeking donated building supplies. If people have extra construction materials or paint that can be utilized in the effort, please call the above numbers of send a note to SALS, PO Box 127, Kincaid, WV 25119. All contributions would be greatly appreciated and used for the betterment of all.
