Veterans' Memorial

The 23rd annual Ansted Hometown Heritage Festival will kick off this evening at the Veterans Memorial along U.S. Route 60.

The annual Ansted Hometown Heritage Festival is scheduled to run this year from Thursday, June 13 through Sunday, June 16.

The festival includes arts and crafts, contests, children’s activities, historic tours and presentations, live entertainment, vendors, a parade, a street dance, an antique tractor show, prizes, an all-church service, class reunions and lots of food and drinks.

The festival’s opening ceremony is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. on Thursday at the memorial in town. The event will conclude on Sunday evening at 4 p.m. with the drawing for prizes at the main stage.

Following is the festival’s agenda.

Thursday, June 13 

5:45 p.m. — opening ceremony at the Veterans Memorial

6 to 8:30 p.m. — community/reunion social, food and entertainment (shepherd’s pie, salad, roll, dessert and drink for $8 at Crafts of Ansted), entertainment, Main Stage, Cherry on Top

Friday, June 14

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — Ansted Heritage Museum open (old Police Department)

5 to 8 p.m. — spaghetti dinner (Ansted Methodist Church)

6 to 9 p.m. — vendors open

6 to 8 p.m. — Kid Zone (next to Medical Center)

8 p.m. — Family Movie Night, Hawks Nest, hosted by FFWC, movie to be announced

8 to 10 p.m. — street dance, Main Stage, Hit and Run

Saturday, June 15

8 to 10 a.m. — pancake breakfast, Church of the Redeemer, in support of Midland Trail High School girls softball team

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Ansted Fire Department open house (behind Dollar General)

10 a.m. to 8 p.m. — vendors open

10 to 11 a.m. — first historic tour/Stonewall Jackson performance, Tyree Tavern

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — craft artists, Gazebo (coppersmith, cast iron cooking, salt and tannery)

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — Ansted Heritage Museum open (old Police Department)

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — tractor show, Main Street

10 a.m. to 7 p.m. — Kid Zone (next to Medical Center)

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — AIM hot dog sale (hot dogs, barbecue, baked goods), AIM House
