Southern West Virginia's Adventures on the Gorge (AOTG) will offer "Autumn Encore" to celebrate the peak of fall foliage and the pending conclusion of the always-popular Gauley Season.

"We are excited to celebrate a great season of rafting the Gauley River and appreciating the peak of our vibrant fall foliage," said Roger Wilson, CEO of AOTG. "Our executive chef, Hannah Radford, has promised an evening of seasonal flavors and something for everyone."

According to a press release, Autumn Encore will be held Friday, Oct. 15 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Adventures on the Gorge. Overlooking the New River and America's newest national park, the resort's decks are known for their views of the New River Gorge, its namesake bridge and "the most spectacular sunsets this side of the Mississippi."

The Three's Company Blues from Charleston will provide musical entertainment.

Pricing will be $1 per ticket — 30 tickets for $25 if purchased in advance — with items priced individually. For example, appetizers such as fried pepperoni roll and maple pulled pork buns will be four tickets each. A bowl of chili — choose from brisket, raspberry Chipotle black bean, curry chicken and Dragon's Breath — will cost eight tickets. Entrees such as barbecue ribs and venison tenderloin and desserts like pumpkin cheesecake cinnamon rolls, cinnamon caramel apple cake and pecan brownie bites will be six tickets each. A cash bar will be available, as well.

The resort's Rendezvous Lodge will host an after party starting at 9 p.m., with music by Higher Education from Richmond, Va.

Advance purchase of tickets may be made online or by calling 855-802-1504.

This dinner event will overlook the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve when it is especially scenic as the fall colors explode among more than 100 species of native hardwoods, plus several introduced species. According to fall foliage trackers, the park will peak in mid- to late-October.

Gauley Season occurs on weekends in September and October when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers releases water from Summersville Lake into the Gauley River to create 26 miles of world-class whitewater rafting with close to 100 named rapids, including nine Class V. The 2021 season concludes Oct. 17.
