The top 66 juried artworks from this year’s Youth Arts in the Park initiative are being featured in the lobby of the Hulett C. Smith Theater at Tamarack through May 6.

The five Best in Show works will be featured along with art by adults and art for public sale until June 9 in the “Surf and Turf” spring gallery show in the David E. Dickirson Fine Art Gallery at Tamarack.

Colt Lesher, a first-grade student at Divide Elementry, won the K through second-grade category of the annual contest.

Olivia Tweeddale, a fourth-grader from Raleigh County, won the third- through fifth-grade category.

Maren Boblits, an eighth-grade homeschool student from Fayette County, won the middle school category.

Cameron Thomas, an 11th-grader at Nicholas County High School, won the high school category.

Lily Burr, a senior at Midland Trail High School, won Best in Show overall.

The art contest is part of the National Park Service’s 2019 New River Gorge Wildflower Weekend, which runs from April 26 to April 29 with events scheduled throughout the weekend.
