Janet Zamiela, who retired in March from her position as director of the county’s aging program, recently was honored by the Fayette County Commission for her years of service to the county’s residents.

The Fayette County Commission recently issued a certificate of honor to Janet Zamiela in recognition of her long service to Fayette County.

Zamiela “dedicated many years of her life to serving the senior citizens of Fayette County,” the certificate from the commission read. “Ms. Zamiela worked in various capacities, including running the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and obtaining the position of county program director for the Fayette County office in 1996, where she served until her retirement in March 2020.”

In recognizing her service, the commission extended its “highest commendation” to Zamiela.

In a letter accompanying the certificate of honor, commissioners said they “join all the senior citizens of Fayette County, family and friends in expressing our respect and thankfulness for all your hard work.”
