OAK HILL — The 18th annual Community Thanksgiving Meal will be held at the Lewis Christian Community Center at 469 Central Avenue in Oak Hill on Thursday, Nov. 22.

The annual event offers a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, served hot and free to anyone who could use a Thanksgiving meal.

Meals will be available for carry out starting at 11 a.m. Dine-in hours are from noon until 2 p.m. No reservations are required for dine-in.

Meal delivery is also available. If you or someone you know is shut in or can not get out, volunteers can bring a meal to you.

To have meals delivered, or if you have questions about the delivery areas, please call one of the following locations with name, telephone number, directions to delivery location and number of meals requested.

• St. Andrew's Episcopal Church — 304-469-3223

• Oak Hill United Methodist Church — 304-469-4126

• Lewis Christian Community Center — 304-469-3313

Delivery requests will be accepted through Nov. 16.

The dinner, which now serves hundreds across Fayette County, started at the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and has grown to include all of New River Episcopal Ministries locations, as well as congregations of other churches and individual and group volunteers.

Volunteers are always welcome and appreciated. Preparations for the meal will begin on Monday, Nov. 19 at 8 a.m. at the Lewis Christian Community Center. If you would like to volunteer, get involved or donate needed items, please call Lesley Taylor at 304-382-1421 or message.

Volunteer work days will start at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19 and Tuesday, Nov. 20 will involve cooking and set-up. On Wednesday, Nov. 21, volunteers will be chopping vegetables (please bring a cutting board and knife) and setting up for Thanksgiving Day.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, volunteers are needed to help fill hot meal boxes, to deliver food through the area, to serve the carry-out and dine-in meals and then to clean-up. If you can volunteer for any of those services, organizers will be grateful.

If you can't volunteer, but wish to help out, monetary donations can be mailed to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 345 Kelly Avenue, Oak Hill WV 25901, noting “Community Thanksgiving Meal” in the memo.
