FAYETTEVILLE — Following the canvass of the June 11 municipal election in the Town of Fayetteville, the outcome remains the same as the initial vote tally.
Challenger Sharon Cruikshank, a current town council member, defeated incumbent Dennis Hanson by a total of 382 to 275. Cruikshank picked up 11 votes in the canvass and Hanson added five.
Recorder Zenda Carte Vance was unopposed for her seat. She received 11 more votes from the canvass for a total of 489.
Incumbent council members Lori Tabit, Stanley Boyd and Okey Sizemore were re-elected, along with newcomers Gabriel Pena and Brian Good. Post-canvass vote totals were: Tabit, 375; Boyd, 357; Pena, 350; Skidmore, 344; and Good, 317. Others garnering votes were Rob Long, 217; Mariah Ritterbush, 202; Janette “Jet” Woodrum, 187; Olivia Tygrett, 114; and Debbie Richardson, 104.
The new officials will be sworn in June 28 at 6 p.m. at Town Hall by Judge Paul Blake and will meet for the first time on July 11.
