FAYETTEVILLE — The Historic Fayette Theatre will end its 2006 season with the traditional story of Tiny Tim and Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol,” but with a West Virginia twist.

“A Coal Camp Christmas Carol,” written by Jean Battlo, sets the classic holiday story in the Appalachian coal fields. Directed by Carl Thompson, “A Coal Camp Christmas Carol” has a large, flexible cast, including Tiny Tim, the rest of the Cratchit Family, Mrs. Scrooge, the ghost of Jacob Harley Scrooge, Spirits of Christmas Past and Present and of Things To Come, the Scavengers (three) and about eight other small but significant roles.

Auditions will be Sunday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m. and again Monday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the theatre.

Play dates are Nov. 24-26 and 30 and Dec. 1-3. The performances on Nov. 26 and Dec. 3 are matinees. The other performances are at 8 p.m.

Rehearsals are usually two nights a week.
