In reference to an article entitled “Commission candidates address services required for Boy Scouts,” published April 9, candidate Randall Patterson wishes to clarify that he does not believe the county’s planning and zoning is too strict. He says he was on a committee in the 1990s that helped develop some of the zoning.
“At that time, Fayette adopted zoning while Nicholas County and Greenbrier County did not have the zoning Fayette had,” he says. “Some businesses went where it was easier at that time to get by with things. Now all have the zoning and we are on the same playing field.”
Patterson also would like to clarify that he believes the “spin-off” from the Boy Scouts of America’s Summit project should bring a lot of jobs to the area.
