The GREAT (Green Advisory Team) is preparing for the annual Earth Day celebration on Sunday, April 19 on Court Street in Fayetteville. The celebration begins at 11 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m.

Children’s activities will be held on the Courthouse lawn. Local bands, including Wild Rumpus, will play music and Mara Petrotich will lead a children’s concert. There will be a climbing wall again this year for the children, its use dontated by the National Guard, as well as inflatable jumping toys.

Also for the kids, there will be opportunities to make recycled crafts (like chia pets, papier mache earths, and others) and a natural obstacle course, plus many more activities. Also, Annita Lanham will lead the children in adding to the flower garden in town.

Free books and buttons about Earth Day also will be offered to the children, as well as many more surprises. The GREAT team wants to educate children on the importance of working to save our planet.

For the adults, there will be educational booths (incuding MIHOW, Highlands Conservancy, PAN, Farmer’s Market, information about rain gardend, and more). In case of rain, the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building has been reserved.
