Farmers Market time is almost here, according to local organizers. The Fayette County Farmers Market will begin on May 9, just in time to sell garden starts for Mothers Day.

This summer, the market will run in three weekly locations. The original Saturday location in Fayetteville is set for 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. each week at the Fayette County Courthouse. The Tuesday location in Mount Hope is Mount Hope Presbyterian Church from 8 a.m. to noon. And this year, the group will open its brand-new and much anticipated Oak Hill location on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lewis Community Foundation’s Christian Community Center by the City Park.

In addition, the Fayette County Farmers Market Association seeks to interest young people in participating. A Young Farmers Day is planned for May 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Fayetteville at the Fayetteville Presbyterian Church at 401 West Maple Ave.

Youth ages 9 to 15 are invited to take part in a free day of farming workshops and fun, learning to grow delicious produce, market the products, and track the sales. Those who take part will get a free membership to sell at the Fayette County Farmers Market, as well as items to help them get started.
